01) The whole world including us knows about you as a legendary porn actor, ‘a giant with a pussy’ etc…Anyhow…Please introduce yourself to Zest Girls.
Thank you for reaching out to me. I very much appreciate that you want to learn about me and my work as well as introduce your readers. My name is Buck Angel and I am a transsexual man, 56 years old. I was born a female and transitioned to become a man over 20 years ago. I used testosterone and surgery to make my body look as masculine as possible. I removed my breasts and kept my vagina though I physically look and feel like a man. The reason I kept my vagina was that many years ago the surgery was not good enough for me. So I had to figure out a way to feel masculine in my body that has a vagina. I discovered masturbation and this changed my life. After having an orgasm as a man with a vagina I said “ I love the way this feels why do I keep shaming myself?” That was the start of what would soon become my pornography career. I coined myself and the term “ man with a pussy” and from that day 18 years ago I built a career as an award winning pornographer. I created the genre of FTM PORN I created the worlds first Trans Male sex toy called the Buck Off. I have become a human rights activist and speak on the topic of trans male sexual health all over the world. I have also started a cannabis business in Los Angeles with another Trans Man activist Leon Mostovoy, called Pride Wellness, We work close with the LGBTQ community in education about the illness of cannabis.
02) Please tell us a bit about your childhood memories. We know that you were a beautiful girl named “Susan”. Was there any boy inside that girl?
That little girl was actually Buck, the guy you see today. My childhood was pretty normal considering I was a little girl who felt like a boy. But my family was ok with me being little Buck. It was only certain times that I would be reminded that I was a girl. having to go to church and wear a dress or to a family gathering. But mostly I felt like a boy. I was teased by other kids, what we call bulling behavior today. That made me a tough kid. Basically i always felt like a boy. I did all boy things like play football and skateboarding and all things boys did. The problems started with puberty. Period. That is when my body became female and betrayed my feelings. That was the beginning of the end.
03) You started your career as a female model. Please tell us about that period. And your achievements as a female model.
Well funny because I do not think of my model career as anything but horrible and not a career at all. Its like trying to stick a square peg into a hole, it will not work. I was discovered in Hollywood,. So many people wanted me to succeed but I was not happy being a lady or a model. I did it because I could make money and buy drugs and alcohol. But it only lasted about a year if that. When I went to London I had every opportunity to become a big model but I hated it so much. So it finally just was time to move on. I was one of the very first androgynous models and really had so much opportunity but like I said it just wasn’t my path.
04) When you start your transition? Please tell us briefly about the process of going from beautiful female to handsome dude?
haha..well I transitioned in a day where the internet barely was a thing and there were no trans doctors for trans men specifically in Los Angeles. So when I finally found a doctor to give me testosterone he told me “ I have been working with transsexual women for many years. You will be my first transsexual man, you will be my guinea pig he said. It was scary. But I had no choice at all. So started my testosterone shots and everything was ok. After about a year or so on hormones I hunted down a great doctor in Beverly hills who did plastic surgery for rich people and he had done some transsexual women breast surgery. So he was willing to do my top surgery with a new technique and so I was his first transsexual man patient. He also was amazing and did a great job. It ws the beginning of a new life for me. But some people in my life did not understand because having a sex change back then was considered weird. Many of the women who said mean things to me and even abandoned me as a friend have since transitioned today. That is part of being a pioneer and doing things before others. There is always the person who has to lead and I seem to be picked for that a lot.
05) What was the worst part of it?
Losing friends. It was heartbreaking for me and lonely. I lost lovers as well. I did not have a big support group like many do now. I did not have Facebook or any community groups. This is why I talk with the kids and let them know that they have a privilege today that I never had and to stop acting entitled but understand it as a gift and have some gratitude and respect for the people before you.
06) But you decided to live with your vagina. What is the reason for that? Do you still love your feminine side or?
My vagina has zero to do with being female. My vagina is one hundred percent male. I decided that the surgery was just to risky. I also did not like the outcome. I still do not. This is to say, I personally do not like it for me. If other trans men wish to do this I have full respect for it. But that doesn’t mean I can not be opposed to this surgery for myself. I find it to still be a bit primitive and I am such a perfectionist that all the work that goes into it the outcome does not suit my taste. So I have since embraced what I was born with. I change the things I can and accept the things I can’t. Simple.
07) Please tell us about your journey as a porn star? Did you start it as a girl or after your transformation?
I started porn after transitioning to male. I started because there was no FTM porn just MTF porn. I was telling myself that I needed to make a statement and I needed to let the world know that men like me exist and that we are sexual. It was difficult as many people were against me. Especially my trans male community. They went after me like mean animals. The things they said to me were sick. The funny thing is today so many trans men call themselves a man with a vagina. The early 3 years were difficult because I had no support. But I just kept going and today you can the fruits of my labor.
08) We call you a founder of a revolution. As a living legend of gender transformation. What do you think about today’s world? Is it a better place for transgender people than at your young age?
Oh wow that is so sweet thank you for that. I feel like I was in some way given this voice early to make change. My pornography gave me a voice. It let me show my transformation is a very in your face way. This is powerful. So today we have a whole new generation of gender identity. This is amazing and wonderful. BUT in this recent year with this asshole Trump and his nazi machine we are under attack. Not only in the USA but the world. Today I am in Paris France for Pride and there are many of the same attacks happening to the LGBTQ community. It is like we are headed backwards and why I feel more empowered today to use my voice and my body for change. I do think the transgender community is in a much better space for people to consider transition.
09) Who are your most admirable transgender male and female?
I love Laura Jane Grace. She is such a powerhouse and a punk rocker! We have become friends and she continues to push the boundaries of identity with her visibility and music.
Lou Sullivan is a trans man who really made transitioning accessible with his activism. He died of AIDS March 2 1991 and he is a big influence for me.
10) Please tell a few words about your future plans to make this world a better place.
My hopes and my dreams are to work with the children and parents of our community. I would like to build a place of love that we can start to teach each other how to respect choices. There is no one way to transition. That is past. The future for me is to continue to bring awareness to the world of Cannabis through my business Pride Wellness and to help people with wellness. I have been given another chance at life and this is why I feel so passionate to use my voice and my transition to make change.
